BIOGRAPHY

Francesco Arienzo is an Italian monologue performer, actor, and director who has turned comedy into his strength.

Born in Naples in 1981, he realized at an early age he had an innate passion for the theatrical and cinematographic worlds. It was in fact his desire to succeed in these two fields that soon led him to undertake a theatrical training course.

After years of commitment and dedication in shaping a very special kind of comedy that would later become his trademark, in 2013 he founded the comedy group “I Terzincomodi”, a group that achieved a great success with the public and won the Charlot Prize for Critics in 2015.

After an initial approach to national audiences, Francesco started a very prolific career whose development was driven by his love for stand-up comedy and his desire to refine his comic universe.

It is precisely the monologues in which he enjoys overturning the obvious and exalting moods in a cynical and delicate manner that brought him to the stage of Italia’s Got Talent in 2017 and to win first the golden buzzer from Frank Matano and then the second place of the show.

Shortly afterward, his show Disagistica Contemporanea (also available on Amazon-Audible) went on stage and in 2018 he joined the regular cast of Saturday Night Live Italia on TV8, fronted by Claudio Bisio.

In January 2019 Francesco participates in Italian theatres and clubs with the new show Maschio Adorabile Poco Virile and in spring he debuts in the comedy program Colorado, on Italia1. In the autumn of the same year, instead, he was selected as one of the protagonists of Extra-Factor (the Late Show aired on Sky immediately after X-Factor) and as the host of Ante-Factor for the final evening. In 2020, due to the global pandemic, he barricades in his house and, together with Veronica Pinelli and Marco Renzi, designed and wrote Vesuviana Football Club, a podcast comedy series produced by Amazon-Audible.

In the meantime, he buys a microphone and produces the independent podcast Dr. Disagio, a collection of 15 previously unreleased monologues in which every Monday he narrates his life experiences and observations that don’t quite fit in with the world around him, and which also becomes a live show touring clubs and theatres in Italy and even Slovenia.

In March 2021 he is one of the protagonists and authors of Casa Sanremo, the afternoon and evening talk show streamed live from the Palafiori during the Sanremo Festival. In November he took part in Rai2’s new late-night program Data Comedy Show, and in 2022 he joined the regular cast of Bar Stella, Stefano De Martino’s show, and acted in So Cast So Wine – Uomo delle stelle, the sketch-comedy broadcast on Sky Uno and NOW. In the meantime, he combines his passion for live and podcasts with invito a cena con Delivery, a talk-show with ever-changing guests, which he still records every month live with the public from GhePensiMi in Milan, available on Youtube, Spotify and all other platforms. After having gradually carved out a career full of successes ranging from theatre to cinema and television, Francesco today continues to work assiduously to give shape to his dreams and to wring a spontaneous and genuine laugh out of each of his fans.
